SEO case study on an expired domain name remounted in 2019/2020 in the US health niche.

Background π§
In September 2019, @Cryptorusk0f buys back a nice expired domain name from @LJee in US healthcare.
We decide to build it together and to make it an authority site (and not a niche site) in the same theme.
Before we begin, here is a summary of the site’s expenses and revenues.
Expenditures (Oct 2019 > Sept 2021): β¬18,404 πΈ
- NDD: 550 β¬.
- Writing: β¬11,274 (375,000 words) or about 150 pages.
- Accommodation: 1630 β¬.
- Backlinks: 4950 β¬.
Total revenue (Oct 2019 > Sept 2021): β¬47,061 π°
Means of monetization of the site:
- Affiliation
- Ads (only for 6 months)

Upgrade a site on an expired Domain Name
We analyze the NDD and decide to use our 301 redirection technique:
β Dedicate a category of the site to the theme of the old site
β Rewrite articles on the keywords for which the site was positioned and make 301
Example:
If the site was about Phytotherapy, we would have made a “Phythotherapy” category by rewriting all the articles targeting the keywords on which NDD was previously positioned.
This is just to send good signals to our friend Google.
Redirect 301
A lot of work will be done on the 301 :
β Switch all pages still indexed to 301
β Switch all pages that have backlinks to 301 (check on @SEObserver_en ).
β We get back about 100 backlinks thanks to 301s.
The content π
With the structure defined and the keywords found, we decide to subcontract the writing.
We are advertising in South Africa for EN writers with nutritionist / medical degrees to pass Google’s E-A-T criteria without worry.
Why South Africa? Because the content will cost us less, but the quality of writing will not decrease.
Moreover, we wanted to test this country for our future EN sites.
Backlinks π
- We decide to test ABC Plus from Authority Builder (495β¬/month for 2-4 BL on site with high traffic and DR20-65) for 10 months.
- We launch our outreach strategy with the associations (see the method in the conference below)
- Writing news content with low Keyword Difficulty (@ahrefs) to get natural backlinks.
The site currently has 864 referring domains.
Results
In July 2019, the site reaches 199,067 visits in a single month.
We will also be doing our biggest months of CA with a high of β¬3154 in one month. π
The NDD will unfortunately be lit by the 2 core updates of 2020 (May + December):
From August 2020, we decide not to touch it anymore and devote ourselves to other projects.
Our “non-efforts” pay off (lol).
The site will start again in June 2021.
We haven’t touched the site since August 2020, nor spent a cent on it.
Today, he maintains an average of 40k visits/month and a good 2 500β¬ of income.
With the multiplier coefficients of the US at resale, the site is now worth about 75kβ¬.
If we take stock.
In terms of time spent / investment / revenue.
We are largely positive.
This is the advantage of building a site on an expired NDD.
β Fast ROI.
But beware, this is not always the case! There can be bad surprises too.
So I recently decided to buy the shares of the site from @CryptoRusk0f to restart the machine, but this time alone.
